No Small Things is my product+design studio's new name. We're focused on helping software businesses grow, using design and consistent process to get results. Start small, and keep going.

Think it's time to finally start my best podcast idea: My friends and I (amateur home bartenders) come up with cocktail ideas and talk about them. Then at the end my girlfriend (badass professional bartender) comes in and destroys us.

Trying to find ways to share in-progress thinking and work before I feel it's polished. No good reason to wait until we sell the app to talk about the process of trying to sell it, except the fear of failing in public. Which isn't a good reason.

Okay, decided I'm going to write first about the costs of developing a 500k download AR app. After that, how we've gone about trying to sell it (whitelabel, acquisition, etc). Then some other growth/sales tactics I've been exploring over the past 2 years with clients.

Have been meaning to blog more about business topics, sales, growth, product, etc. Anything y’all are interested in? An example, selling a product/company is crazy hard work. Could talk about how I’ve been approaching doing that.

Yowza, I just realized the jibarito was invented in Chicago. I'm almost sad, because everybody should try one. It's a thin steak (usually) sandwich with smashed and fried plantains instead of bread. Seriously, it's so wonderful. Track one down.

Trying to decide for which milestone in life I’ll allow myself to buy a videogame racing wheel. 🏎

On a somewhat related note, this transit station retrofit in Barcelona is pretty incredible.

I’m enjoying considering what American (and many other) cities could be like if they’d been developed a hundred+ years earlier. And hopefully what we can do to improve them in the coming decades.

It’s flawed to replace a tool people hate with a bad copy of that tool. Our attention wants entirely new replacements, not weak substitutes. Mastodon shouldn’t replace Twitter. And a similar social network won’t replace Facebook. Something new will be created.

If you want to join me in making sure crappy people like that guy and his ilk DON’T WIN, join The ’s monthly giving club, The Tap. Going to work extra hard now.

But also... just THINK of how many amazing, small projects could be funded for life with just a couple of these rounds. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Like I couldn’t care less about all the wasted money. It wasn’t going towards worthwhile causes anyway (unfortunately). It’s rich people and funds who are bored and trying to become more rich. Just hate to see so many companies trained with the bad habits of unnecessary money.

We’ll lose more potentially great companies and products because of over-funding than we’d save if they had to survive with less. And it’s ridiculous to believe you need to raise extra just because your competitors did, or that somehow the market is moving that quickly. False.
