Each time I tell my music theory classes about the fact that tonal music is hierarchical, meaning not all notes are equal and not all harmonies are equal, I get closer to arguing that tonality's hierarchy reflects its historical proximity to absolutist and colonial governments

📢 Calling all devs: Let's make a mega thread of performance/efficiency tips & tricks for three.js! Big or small, name something that has helped you boost rendering perf, load times, memory management, etc. Textures, materials, loaders, shaders, geometries, you name it.

Groundbreaking old movies aren't the only thing we're losing though. In 2012 Konami finally admitted they'd lost the masters to the first 3 Silent Hills. The fucking... MISPLACED it somehow. They will never be re-released in their original form.

Something like 85-90% of all films made before the 1930's are just gone. There's no way to ever know how much we've lost from an art preservation perspective. You can't put a value on it.

One copy survived and somehow found it's way to America, where Dracula was already in the public domain. That's it. That's the only reason you've ever seen the granddaddy of all horror movies.

In 1922 a German court ordered all prints and negatives of Nosferatu destroyed following a copyright dispute with the widow of Bram Stoker. The film only exists today because of piracy.

Had this thought in a dream last night that I could make my Complex Number javascript implementation alot faster by doing the operations as vector math in a shader.

I want to see how far I can go with this aesthetic - something that behaves like a fully-realized world, but with the look and feel of a really progressive Amiga game from 1990.

Code + live demo soon. Right now this kills my browser after running for a few minutes because of how much memory it uses. Caching + better understanding of garbage collection should clear that up and make this usable.

Basically, take two cubes, superimpose them, rotate one along x, y, z and the create a mesh from either the union or intersection of the results.
