Just out from me - 'How can we expect patients with a diagnosis of 'Borderline Personality Disorder' to trust mental health services'. A breakthrough on this is possible but vested interests keep sucking things back. Lobby, lobby, lobby, folks.

Guides have new badges for 2018 including ‘Speaking Out’! How marvellous! I would love all trainings to include something on how to challenge seniors when you are still relatively junior. Because if one doesn’t then, assimilation tends to happen.

This is fascinating. Especially the ending- how recent innovations in therapy have come from people who have experienced mental health problems themselves. "Therapeutic change comes from looking inside... not from trying to impose ideas from outside".

The experience of a member of our family sadly mirrors yours...BPD thrown in when the Trust clearly wanted the person labelled as a troublemaker...and therefore not to be helped. This person has now removed themselves from Mental Health System trying to recover from its harm.

A great piece of writing that sums up how services consider an individuals way of coping as problematic when it doesn’t fit with the systems needs for “compliance”. When did the approach turn from caring to punishing?

great article! I wrote this in May about what it feels like to have BPD and how trust and misconceptions can be so damaging to those of us who have it. Would love you to have a read!

Help! I have the opportunity to restructure and reshape the service I inherited. I'd like to provide a true user led service incorporating trauma informed care on a prison wing for men. All tips on what to do welcome. Please RT and help

Awesome piece as usual by ; I luurve her use of the word ‘patients’ as opposed to the derogatory ‘service USERS’ (which is commonly used to denote someone who uses others for their own selfish gain; ie. somebody who constantly ‘takes’ and never ‘gives’) xxx

a very important read regarding BPD. i was misdiagnosed with BPD in the past & this was exactly my experience. i was lucky enough to find someone who listens & we figured it out, but nonetheless a lonely, frustrating experience where i often went dismissed, unheard & invalidated.

Retweeted Anthony Dooley (): Extremely timely. Needs to be read by all involved in 'mental health and wellbeing'. Is it my thinking that is the problem when I'm broke, literally and metaphorically?!

when I trained as an OT the only thing I was 'taught' about BPD was people with it are manipulative. It's disgusting, offensive and damaging.
