    Much of 's community no longer cares about exploration or mystery. Only about getting the best equipment, figuring out the best trade routes, finding the perfect colony world, congregating in charted space. They have given up on the notion of a universe beyond them.

    Thread on 's Starbirth mission chain. Lots of mixed feedback on the coordinates portion, but I think this hits a good point. Challenge is good, just needed some polish. Also yeah, the timegates aren't part of the challenge, & imo can be scrapped.

    1/2 Just wanted to say this to after doing the living ship quest. I know some have complained about the difficulty about of finding the coordinates throughout the quest. PLEASE DO MORE OF THIS! THE CHALLENGE IS PART OF WHAT MAKES IT SO AMAZING! It was fun and it

    I always feel weird when I post 'popular' examples of early 3D because inevitably there are always comments about how it looks so much better than anything else of the era. Like all 3D of all eras, things can look good, bad, unique, etc. It doesn't matter what the tech was.

    A shame that two features of 's photo mode remain broken though. Cloud level adjustments have been broken since Next, and the vignette option was either broken then as well, or with Beyond. Still hoping will restore functionality to both eventually.

    No Man's Sky is still the best game for taking amazing photos

    p.s. for what it's worth there's nothin' wrong with sightseeing & such, but don't pretend it's somehow exploration NASA engineers build friggin' robots/rovers to explore & analyze other planets. They're explorers because they want to understand other worlds.

    From the very start, you're given nearly all ya need right quick to forget you're dealing with alien worlds in . It all rapidly fades into the background as the galaxy boils down into rote gamey tasks like setting up farms/mines to get this or that.

    In , you don't need to understand a planet's ecosystem, environmental hazards, or how to navigate its topography to acquire resources. You have a multitool mining laser, hazard protection, and a starship and that multitool? It can manipulate terrain, dig/bridge gaps.

    In , there is barely anything to know about the places one can visit. Especially now. A scan from space now reveals some key resources. Hazard Protection's always been generalized, just need a basic, common resource to survive. Environs are a backdrop to resources.

    One of the things I think I fundamentally disagree with many in the community over is just what exploration is. Exploration isn't simply sightseeing. Tourists sightsee. They want a beautiful vista in the brief time they have to go somewhere. Explorers want to know.
