    I used to enjoy Harris' podcast – he presented fascinating conversations about consciousness, AI, rationality, and more. Where I disagreed with him, it helped me sharped my own thinking. But now, he's become an ideologue of the "intellectual dark web."

    Harris has allowed his own ideological worldview to supplant his commitment to fact. It's not true that 0% of British muslims approve of homosexuality, but it's "true enough" for him – and his listeners.

    Granted, those numbers are still far too small. There is no doubt that Islam, like other religions, preserves dangerously outdated ideas about gender, sexuality, and more. So why does Harris feel the need to lie?

    That quote from is from his episode #131. It is false. A review of survey research on Muslims in Britain found that 18% agree that homosexuality should be legal in Britain, and 28% think it's acceptable for a gay person to be a teacher:

    I bought a gaming PC the week after the 2016 election as an escape from the dread of Trump's America. Before I knew it, I was gaming 30-40 hours a week – at the expense of exercise, friends, other hobbies. I had to sell my PC to break the spell. Yes, gaming addiction is real.

    It's rather ironic given my current work organizing against consumerism and plastic waste, but my first job was actually at . For a high school retail job, it was actually a lot of fun - and politics aside, toy stores are joyful places.
