I've seen them on a whale watch tour out of Eastport, ME. Heading back this spring. If things go well I'll be able to photograph them nesting!

  4. Alright, well, caucuses are weird. On that note, here is a neotropical harvestperson that is both beautiful and intriguing.

  5. BTW, our hero in the first frame gots its prize. Nom

Getting a little antsy for spring - that marvelous time of year when colorful little birds return from winter vacation and chase bugs while looking adorable. (Palm Warbler)

It's interesting going back and looking at old photos. Sometimes you find interesting things - like the fact that this little lady Northern Cardinal is banded! Jekyll Island, GA

Getting some petitions to door knock this weekend! Maybe I'm naively optimistic, but I'm hoping we can generate a big, powerful, blue tsunami this fall.

A baby American Alligator calls out for mom. With populations decimated due to hunting, these animals were listed as an endangered species in 1973. Conservation efforts helped them rebound and they were delisted in 1987.

Here is a wider shot. The nest was high up in a corner crack. Even if you're heading out with your camera always bring bins!

All About Birds says Great Horned Owls have been known to eat porcupines (!) and specifically mentions American Coots as a meal. 🤔 This guy was checking his powerful talons.

Ring-necked Ducks had taken over a small pond at Middle Creek WMA today. While Middle Creek was created and conserved for hunting, in 2010 it was designated as a Globally Significant Important Bird Area. It has become a great place to see migrating waterfowl.

Oh look, Snow Geese... There were some decent sized flocks around today, but they were off foraging in the closed fields around the reservoir. Middle Creek WMA, PA
