    Metro safety overseer says it supports Metro doing this. They say they recently learned “that Metrorail had stopped train operator recertifications entirely. The WMSC communicated the seriousness of this safety issue to Metrorail…”

    In fact, Metro says nearly half of their 500 train operators are at least somewhat behind on being recertified, which Metro says involves them spending time in classrooms and doing testing out in the field.
