Considering long-time YouTube personalities have been struggling to monetize on YouTube lately, I don't see why removing that privilege from creators who don't qualify is an issue. Being handed things is lame. I hope this causes an increase in content quality too.

I think the main issue is it makes it hard to get into YouTube, but then again no one should expect to do YouTube for their sole source of income nor expect any monetization.
People are mainly complaining based on not getting money/value out of something they're not even fully committed to. It's kind of entitled imo.
