I feel the issue more is how many people play the game to have fun over how many people want to make money playing it with the need to try
To be fair, not everyone has fun with the "not trying" thing. Some people's idea of fun is trying/getting better.

The issue is the people. Those that want to try hard, do and those that want to “troll” in your words - probably just play for casual fun.
