Medical student Joe Babinski believes free tuition will help him to become a better doctor, because he “can focus on learning the medicine and being good at it,” instead of having to work through school. https://cbsn.ws/2OXNEHY pic.twitter.com/OBcPIq7mK0

News Flash: When kindly Dr. Welby "passes it on" when a patient doesn't have the money for the insurance co-pay, lawyers & Big Insurance call that "INSURANCE FRAUD"! We need #LawyerReform.

Great segment but shame on 60 minutes for not even touching the subject of overall college expense and why it is that way .

The can get school loans like the rest of us and their earning potential is quite substantial to make payback easier than us secretaries

Please educate yourself on how medical education works before you talk about salary. They have 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of undergrad med school, then 4-7 years of residency before they start making money. And they take out lots of loans to get that far.

But doing this is worth nothing unless the patients benefit with lower medical costs. If this eliminates all the money the med students need to pay back it must be passed on to the patients or it’s all for nothing. This should not be to allow the med students to become richer

This is one medical school of many and undergrad med school is not connected to any patients, financially. After 4 yrs he hopefully gets a residency somewhere in the USA and, after 4-7 years of residency maybe he gets a permanent job and can return the favor.

I'm a big fan of free medical school. MBA school, not so much. I'd even like free law school for public defenders

What's to stop someone from lying and saying they're going to be a public defender then bailing into private practice once I pay for it?
