I wrote about elliot rodger's manifesto and the biography delivered therein back when Isla Vista took place. Rodger struggled with psychosis a lot, which in itself is usually only dangerous to the person experiencing it; but he also seemed v susceptible to stuff like advertising
I tend to think that 'incel' arises in large part from the intense messaging all around us re: what a 'man' should want, how he should obtain it, et cetera. It's highly tuned towards people who are deeply enmeshed in a sorta capitalistic social context

I think that sometimes if you send that kind of messaging towards people who are not enmeshed in this context and don't have the levels of media resistance required for daily life in our dystopia, it can fuck ppl right up

imo rodger was a guy who would see those commercials where a famous actor drives an expensive car, and come immediately to believe that his way forward was to win the lottery so he could buy an expensive car so that he could fulfill the fantasy in the ad
