How does that work if they've "always known they were trans" or "gender identity is innate" or they "were born in the wrong body".

That's because those are lies

If gender is innate then how could transgender people become confused about surgically altered genitalia when dementia sets in? If gender is innate, being trans isn't something they should have to remember.

Like the quasi-munchhausen's family court case, this poses a fundamental problem for their orthodoxy which is why they can't process it. As you say, if they've always had a core female identity, then why would this change with the onset of dementia?

Oh god no. Alzheimer’s or dementia is already bad enough as it is without this.

Zinnia tweeted about this & the responses were as bonkers as you'd imagine. "Gender identity is the truest deepest part of a person, it'd be the last thing to go" "this is transphobia because no one could forget their gender" etc.

I can’t help to notice that the guidelines have been done by a MtT, so usual the female experience is not considered and the male experience is used as the universal approach. Same old.

Given the relative recentness of transition as a widespread phenomenon and the age at which dementia tends to occure, I'd imagine a high proportion of those facing this issue are late transitioning males.

This could be so heartbreaking. I hadn't even thought about this possibility.
