The real catch of course is that they want "gender dysphoria" to continue to be classified as a mental disorder so that they can get medical/insurance coverage for their hormones and surgeries.

It's being changed (likely) to "gender incongruence" in the ICD-11. A medical, not psychological problem, that yes, will have a code for insurance billing. They don't want dysphoria to be necessary for treatment, e.g. "nonbinaries" and "gender fluids."

To be fair, in some circumstances it can. Depends what kind of coverage you have and whether you can demonstrate that it causes you actual distress.

Those things can definitely cause "dysphoria." Many women are "dysphoric" (opposite of "euphoric") about some aspect of their bodies.

People transitioning in later life have not suddenly decided they want to be someone else. We have known since we were very young that we have struggled over our live to live in your boxes. It is not the same thing as sudden onset in puberty we have struggled for a lifetime

Oh, it's only PSYCHIATRY they kicked out. It's still a "medical condition" with DSM-11 likely to call it "gender incongruence". No dysphoria necessary anymore. They might as well call it WrongBodyism.

*ICD-11, not DSM.

This has nothing to do with someone being trans it is a somataform disorder people who are trans may or may not like thier parts what you dont know is that not every trans person has body dysphoria that is why I dont like useing it as a diagnosis
-
Whoa. If they don't have body dysphoria why are they trans? (Probably a stupid question but whatever)
