A kid can be happily "gender nonconforming" throughout childhood, feeling supported by parents/friends. But after exposure to social media/peer pressure, especially if LGB, may experience #RapidOnsetGenderDysphoria #ROGD at puberty. Dysphoria can be iaotrogenic.

1. There are two cases (covered by media) where mothers physically punished or shamed their young sons for wanting "girl toys" or being "flamboyant." After a few years of this the boys announced they were girls. Classic "early onset" cases. But if they had not been punished...

2. ...and been supported by parent, might they have been happy as youngsters? They might have then acquired "rapid onset" dysphoria at puberty, realizing they were (likely) "effeminate" gay males, being bullied, etc. "Early" and "rapid" onset may not be such distinct phenomena.
