Second wave feminism was internationalist. We drew attention not just to rape/abuse in the West, but to women executed in Afghanistan for ankles exposed beneath their burkhas; to bride burnings in India. Liberal-pomo feminism destroyed that solidarity and replaced it w/hypocrisy

Prior to the war in Afghanistan, the Left were very vocal against the Taliban, but ever since, there’s been mainly silence on them & the likes of Iran. Something changed, which eventually made it hard for me to associate with that side of politics.

People give up their critical thinking for groupthink. Because Bush went to war in the Middle East, the left only focused on the terrible casualties caused by the US, and ignored the horrors visited upon people living under those awful regimes.
