It's a statement about the culture at large; the context for the society-wide embrace of transgenderism, not an attack on lesbians. If you've read a fraction of our site, you wouldn't need to ask that question. Like this piece we just retweeted today:https://4thwavenow.com/2015/07/10/why-are-more-girls-than-boys-presenting-to-gender-clinics/ …
You're preaching to the converted here. Blaming/labeling women wasn't the point of that article.
You're right--it's not named in that short Op-Ed. But a culture of narcissism, rampant lesbophobia, regressive genderism which makes girls/lesbians feel wrong, and a rapacious medical-industrial complex are not all mutually exclusive factors; they amplify each other.
Also, I don't think the author is blaming people as individuals. I think he's pointing to a culture which deemphasizes community and human connection--the age of individualism, if you will. Shedding light on that phenomenon doesn't cancel or negate the issues you're pointing out.
There's a clusterfuck of problems. We'll have to agree to disagree that a culture of narcissism isn't related to some others you mention. E.g., the indifference to climate change goes hand-in-hand with the current navel-gazing disconnection from humanity and nature.
there are 2 things: transgender and transgender “fetish”. (I call it “perversion”). Transgender is a real affliction. The perversion is an erotic high. I feel ashamed of the article, which only inflames misconception.
