That's what adults do: Negotiate. If you expect parents to help get student loans, maybe put off drugs/surgeries until you're on your own.
Colleges use info about parents income from FASFA to determine how much fin aid students need. Parents can refuse to provide said info.
If they do so, the student becomes inelligible for most forms of fin aid, from gov. sources and from college itself, inc. grants and loans.
