Agree totally. I just understand, as a lifelong liberal, the mindset. A lot of ppl who argue like this person ...
...just added "trans rights" to their virtue list. Any pushback is seen as "bigoted" and "phobic" because that's what they've been told...
...not only by their peers but by irresponsible media, which has abdicated the duty to actually ask tough questions.
When every outlet, from the New York Times to People magazine is extolling trans with no skepticism, good liberals fall in line.
Conservatives, on the other hand, already don't trust the "liberal media" so they have been somewhat inoculated.
The danger of the self-censorship we see across Western media on trans issue is that people THINK we have a free, investigative press.
If the NY Times or Guardian aren't telling us there's an issue, there must not be one. Journalists bear HUGE blame for the one-sidedness.
I agree completely. And it's a depressing eye-opener about so many liberals. They no longer think. They follow and do as they are told.
Have come to recently understand how this kind of close-mindedness, the moral righteousness, has led to authoritarian govts on the left.
Go far enough left--banish free speech/freedom of expression, refuse to engage in self-reflection--and you wind up coming round to the right
It really makes you appreciate how radical freedom of speech actually is.
It's very fragile and has to be protected or it will wither on the vine. History teaches us that. Humans are bad at learning from history.
