Even the Dutch who pioneered the treatment say social transition + blockers may increase persistence rates.

A child coddled in notion they can change sex throughout childhood--you really think they will desist? Think how hard that would be.

Steensma, one of key Dutch researchers, wrote in 2013 that girls who only socially transitioned had trouble desisting when they wanted to

The Dutch oppose social transition. They found kids who desisted after partial social transition found it more embarrassing.

1) I am thoroughly opposed to socially transitioning children. Common sense says if you tell kid, yes, you're a girl, they will believe you.
-
No child is blocked at puberty who wasn't socially transitioned first. You can't separate them.

2) This is different from the question of blockers for teens. I don't think we know yet what the effect of blockers are.
-
We know they block puberty, which includes brain development. Puberty could also help resolve dysphoria. And has for earlier generations.

4) But I don't think we can prove that blockers increase persistence when we don't have studies yet.

5) It is very possible that if you give blockers to kids who aren't sure, you will increase persistence. We don't know yet.
-
How can you study the iatrogenic effect of blockers on a kid who persists? Gender doctors aren't interested. No control groups.
