"In almost every teen trans story, there is a pattern: obsessive Internet use. Can we really be sure this isn’t a craze or a fad for many? And can we have that discussion without accusations of callousness and bigotry?"https://andrewsullivan.substack.com/p/a-truce-proposal-in-the-trans-wars-c49 …

"obsessive internet use" Evidence for this? What's "obsessive" and how does this differ from any other teenager?

What obsessive looked like 4 my teen: refusing to leave house bc of what might be happening online without them, severe anxiety abt IRL interactions that can't be edited/deleted, usage interfering with hygiene & other basic life functions, claiming 2b suicidal when cut off.

Sounds like an anxiety issue that should be addressed with therapy. Not sure how that's related or applicable to all trans youth.

Bad assumption based on fewer than 300 characters. Anxiety is most often a symptom of disorder, not the root cause. Anxiety is a symptom that cult indoctrination of all sorts takes easy advantage of. Kid was in therapy.

Cult indoctrination? Again, that doesn't mean trans youth are "cult indoctrinated" because some kids have serious mental health struggles and some people take advantage of that.

None so blind as those who refuse to see... I want you to conduct an experiment: go to DeviantArt or Derpibooru or Reddit subs where teens frequent, and post that you think you might be trans. My hypothesis is that you will be love-bombed, not asked to probe your belief deeply.

This is why you go to therapists to determine dysphoria and whether transition is right or not, not DeviantArt. Teenangers do as teenagers do. That's why parents should be involved in their kids lives and not leave them alone to figure it out on their own.

My kids' therapist told me that I was wrong to cut him off from being chronically online where he received his hug-box validation. Additionally, my kids' school issued him an iPad where he was able to access this crap without my guidance.

And my kids' therapist was affirmation-only, not ever examining whether this might be related to his bipolar disorder or experiencing chronic illness (brittle diabetes) which he was dx'd with years prior.

The general population has zero idea how many gender therapist don't even attempt to practice differential diagnosis, or even begin to explore underlying issues. "Gender is the cure" is widely practiced, no matter what the issue is.

That's an incorrect caricature of gender affirming approaches which have people not transitioning and accepting themselves as a positive outcome.
