"In almost every teen trans story, there is a pattern: obsessive Internet use. Can we really be sure this isn’t a craze or a fad for many? And can we have that discussion without accusations of callousness and bigotry?"https://andrewsullivan.substack.com/p/a-truce-proposal-in-the-trans-wars-c49 …

"obsessive internet use" Evidence for this? What's "obsessive" and how does this differ from any other teenager?

Complicated, but this might be a good place to start thinking about it, written by a former trans man & Tumblr insider
@lacroicsz . She has many thoughts on the matter.https://4thwavenow.com/2019/08/13/how-mental-illnesses-become-identities-tumblr-a-callout-post-part-2/ …1 reply 4 retweets 10 likes -

I'm aware of the issues with Tumblr. To assume that all or even most trans youth are part of that site or somehow a product of social contagion isn't accurate. Like you said, it's more complicated than that.

Sullivan @sullydish was pointing to the massive increase in trans identified youth, particularly teen girls. He didn't say "all." Social contagion may certainly be a factor (not the sole cause) in that population, as has been pointed out by many young women who experienced it.pic.twitter.com/EZ5LE3pksW
