Cutting off internet access is abusive?
(and, well, everything else
)
It's not even true. The parents interviewed in the Atlantic story didn't "cut off" Internet access, they increased family activities & encouraged less screen time.
You know--abusive stuff like kayaking & going on road trips. Because everyone knows it's "child abuse" if you don't provide unfettered, unlimited, 24-7 access to the Internet to your tween/teen. Waiting for the CDC guidance on that...
Watch the Social Dilemma, a documentary featuring former Big Tech top execs. To a person, they say unfettered Internet access is damaging young people. These execs say they ALL limit or even BAN social media in their households. Are they child abusers?https://www.netflix.com/title/81254224
Only an "extremist, transphobic hate group" would find anything of value in the cautionary messages about too-online tweens and teens, delivered by former top execs from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Google.
From the trailer: "A whole generation is more anxious, more depressed." In the film, we follow a fictionalized family, addicted to social media. Impact on the teens is emphasized: Low self esteem, missing out on real life relationships, & worse. Self harm rates skyrocketing.
