Correct, and this is (used to be?) common sense. Mere affirmation of a patient's self-diagnosis is dereliction of responsibility. Sending them all down the same path is what follows on from that. How can you treat patients as individual cases when you didn't diagnose them?

Being unwilling to examine the patient's situation, accepting their self-diagnosis by default, shows a lack of care and a lack of moral fibre. If their needs are truly served best by medical transition, then go ahead - but make sure of that for each patient as an individual!
