I'm not anti-trans. I'm not even anti-medical transition. I'm concerned that teen girls in distress are convincing themselves they have "gender dysphoria," self-diagnosing, & obtaining hormones and surgeries w/out adequate medical oversight. This shouldn't be controversial.

Is there any evidence that the majority of dysphoric youth are LGB? Do you have stats on how many of these teen girls are autistic or have been victims of sexual abuse?pic.twitter.com/r9daikS0mR

Things have changed. The "persisters" in studies before the trend took hold were definitely mostly LGB (see: Amsterdam studies), while "desisters" were not. The sharp rise in heterosexual teen transitioners on the autism spectrum or with other issues is (relatively) recent.

Do you have a source for the 'sharp rise in heterosexual teens'? Is there a graph of this over time? What is the percent now of gender dysphoric young males/females who are heterosexual? Has anyone published actual stats for this population?

Ask
@profjmb@ZUCKERKJ@JamesCantorPhD ? My observations are anecdotal, based partly on the number of detransitioners who are not LGB currently posting articles and on social media. The Amsterdam studies were pretty clear re: who tended to persist. Steensma:pic.twitter.com/6o5Sd9D3GK

A lot of people offer their observations based on what they come across on social media. It would seem to me that Tavistock would be able to collect statistical data on their population of patients, like the % of dysphoric girls who are heterosexual.

You refer to the "sharp rise in heterosexual teen transitioners on the autism spectrum or with other issues is (relatively) recent." But is this based only on anecdotes rather than studies?

I hope this data exists, but if it doesn't I hope someone can start collecting it.

Dr. Susan Bradley (who isn't on social media and is at least semi-retired) has also written and spoken extensively about young people on the ASD spectrum and gender dysphoria.

A cursory glance through r/detrans most days will show a disproportionate number of people with autism or other mental health issues who transition
