If women don’t exist, we can’t be liberated. If our axes of oppression are hidden because they have to be described in terms of men’s interests, they often can’t be solved for in policy. But if you want to work on other issues, you’re welcome to do that.

And this conversation started off because we think it’s a bad idea to sling David D*ke’s name around, or the names of other fascists, when talking about the work of other women trying to stop child abuse. If you’re concerned about decorum, maybe start there.

I saw that sermon when he first posted it on YT and thought that it was the nuttiest over-reaction of the post-Obergefell period (and the competition was stiff). But if he is on the right side of a different issue, then it's 100% correct for WoLF to work with him on that issue.

It's the same issue. You can't protect kids from medical transition if you aren't willing to help them accept their same sex attraction.

Yes. When so many kids/teens who want to transition are gay or lesbian (and may be struggling with that), how is it sensible to make alliances with people who have made a career of anti-gay activism?https://twitter.com/4th_WaveNow/status/1252290347755081729 …
4thWaveNow added,
4thWaveNow @4th_WaveNowWe've also been told everyone should politely pretend not to notice the flaming homophobia of some fighting pediatric transition; that we can "deal with those issues later." Sexual orientation struggles are CENTRAL to why some kids decide they're trans. There is no "later."Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

This is a simplistic idea of democratic process, which is about collective problem solving. When you have a problem, you ask people for help until you get a yes. When you ask a legislature, you ask all the legislators. When you ask the voters, you ask for all their votes.

When you have a problem that LGB and autistic kids are getting sterilized and maimed because their families and doctors think something is “wrong” with them, we think you should ask for help stopping that as a first priority. If you think it’s very important, you ask everyone.

This isn’t Survivor, or Big Brother, where we get to kick people off the island. If we want everyone to care about these kids, and we do, we keep asking for that. If we want things to change, by definition, we have to ask people who have different opinions.

Your constant disingenuous attempt to reframe our narrow point--that known anti-gay politicians & orgs aren't the best choice for front matter on a parent guide or to lead a fight re: peds transition--as refusing to "talk to" conservatives or Christians in general is duly noted.

The steady success in the UK to slow down peds transition wouldn't be happening if the very effective activists there had listened to your sage advice. They don't allow their movement to be hijacked by the same ppl who lost the battle against gay marriage--and neither should we.

It's also notable that WolF and surrogates have publicly defamed 4thWaveNow & @bjontry for daring to make this
point on Twitter, while never pressuring the extreme anti-gay individuals and orgs to make any changes in their views. The pressure is applied in only one direction.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

Do you have omniscient access to all of our conversations, too? Do you remember last night, when Jontry repeated false allegations of abuse against a conservative parent? Do conservative parents and their families not count, in your opinions, as being worthy of concern?
