Can anyone explain why this article recommends NOT diluting rubbing alcohol (70% strength) if you make your own disinfecting spray, while the Purell surface sanitizer has less then 30% alcohol, the rest being "inert" ingredients? #COVID19

Alcohol can also be used as a surface sanitizer....seems strange that the article says not to dilute the 70% (what's in the bottle)...

You can use the 70% neat although a little aloe vera will feel kinder on the hands. I'm going to make the WHO recipe next with hydrogen peroxide and glycerol.

Two different things going on here. 1. Surface cleaner - doesn't need to be that strong, bleach, vinegar or alcohol all options 2. Hand sanitiser should be 70% abv by the time its mixed with whatever humectant you choose.
