The only way you get shorter is if you get osteoporosis or if the cartilage between your joints gets worn away. You can also lose a bit of height if you get sarcopenia. These are age related conditions. Foot size doesn't shrink.

Basic understanding of science is so important.

isn't it? I think this is a big part of the problem. I've noticed my artsy friends believe in pseudoscientific claims more quickly than my science friends. I'm artsy but worked at a science museum-so have a bit of understanding of basic principles (+ science history-the best)
