Absolutely agree with you that children need safe spaces to figure out who they are. Now take a look at how this safe time and space for children to reflect and grow is being eroded by the idea of being born in the wrong body. Do you really believe that?

For example, I've seen boys shamed for playing with barbies due to gender identity and gender stereotypes but let the kid play and explore what makes them happy. Let them be who they are. Let them learn about themselves.

Would you label such a child as trans?

I'll put it this way when raising my kids it's important to maintain the health of my children which includes providing them with the necessary medical intervention for any given illness. A kid being not fitting in with gender norms isn't an illness 1/2

I don't agree with his approach. A feel a lot of what Max says and does is meant to stir up emotion and get a reaction. Using the word monstrous could very easily have a negative connotation towards the kids who identify as trans, feeding the negative stigma. It's not helpful

Given how far pediatric transition has gone in North America--and importantly **how many parents go along with it** and are even public activists [e.g. Amanda Jette Knox]--it's worth strategizing how to actually win hearts and minds. Hyperbolic language may have opposite effect.

I'm sorry but are you really advocating that we are somehow to blame, for failing to be polite enough while children are being harmed by medical treatments that can leave them permanently sterilized? This reminds me of church leaders who tell women in DV to be nice.

Suppose you agreed to a treatment for your child you thought was "life saving." All med/psych orgs agree/approve, the media amplifies the message. Someone screams that what you're doing is "monstrous." Do you believe ppl screaming "monstrous!" are the ones who can change things?
