In the absence of intelligent discussion, is a moratorium better than a free-for-all? In the cases of pediatric transition, I tend to think so, but adults should be fully entitled to sterilize or kill themselves. Why SHOULDN'T "gender clinics" get rich on self-destruction? https://t.co/aoFGJDMpxd

Imagine (for example) if the bills instead tried to codify into law a longer period before a teen could medically transition, or some other goal which would seem reasonable to nearly everyone. Demand state reps for AMA or AAP work to revise their affirmation-only guidelines

Hasn't the WPATH madness shown that "recommendations" can be created and promoted for medical advantage, though? At this point I have more hope for legislators to stop this conflation madness than the AMA or AAP, which seem easily captured by zealots with "working groups."

That is an excellent point, and fines toward loss of licensure would probably have been a better penalty. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bright-line_rule … I see no good way forward which does not involve the creation of explicit, legal distinction between physical sex and "gender identity" feelz.

Major medical orgs--AMA, AAP, etc--published guidelines are full-on affirmative care. Most citizens think these are respectable organizations, & WPATH SOC 8 will soon be the same. Threatening to jail MDs who merely follow those guidelines isn't going to resonate with most people.
