My father, George Horvath, died yesterday. He survived the Siege of Budapest, communist labor camps & the Hungarian Revolution; came to USA in '57. The song was recorded on his 36th birthday. (He would have absolutely hated the song, and the band. He loved big band jazz and played decent jazz piano. He and his girlfriend won the Budapest jitterbug competition of 1947, before he was sent to the labor camps.)
