As we wait for research into detransition/desistance, and outcome studies of gender-dysphoric youth that include control groups of non-medicalized participants, research dollars continue to flow into studies like this at Boston Children's/Harvard. https://www.facebook.com/groups/transgenderhealth/permalink/2875114289199645/ …

Interesting how online surveys using convenience samples are AOK (must have been involved in advocacy work for 12+ months!) when that target population is unquestioningly pro-pediatric/youth transition. What's good for the goose is not good for the gander (see: Littman, 2018).pic.twitter.com/222B80XqkI

Imagine a survey of detransitioners/desisters, with a requirement that they (& their parents) must have been involved in "advocacy work" for a year or more. Transphobic! Biased! You only recruited people who agreed with your study premise! Anti-trans activists! Junk science!

The researchers say they plan to use survey results to create parent guidelines. To help ALL parents of trans or gender-atypical youth, they SHOULD recruit detrans/desisted ppl & their parents. How to deal with regret? How to be on lookout for internalized homophobia? Etc.
