I can only tell anyone what the studies have found, which is general success of age 12 as a cut-off. Sorry it doesn't align with your views. #EarthIsRoundAnyway https://t.co/TNyKGe4o2M

The Dutch model permits puberty blockers at age 12, and cross-sex hormones at age 16. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20646177

(As you know) they were a small, carefully assessed group of children w/early-onset GD, generally not encouraged to socially transition as young kids, followed for years before medical intervention commenced. Sharp contrast to what we're seeing now...

How might things be different today, do you think, had the Dutch not opened the puberty-blocker Pandora's Box in the first place? Would many persisters in the Dutch studies grown up to be (for the most part) LG adults who had resolved or found other ways to deal w/ their GD?

In particular, I was struck by some studies from the 90s showing that lesbians on average don't fully integrate/accept their sexuality until 19-early 20s. Links in this article. Curious what your take is?https://4thwavenow.com/2016/01/25/the-surgical-suite-modern-day-closet-for-todays-teen-lesbian/ …

The concern that puberty blocking could interfere with the development of sexual orientation has also been raised (more than once) by at least one clinician/researcher, Alexander Korte.https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1195356504439828480.html …

It may be that the Dutch cohort of puberty-blocked kids who went on to cross-sex hormones/surgeries are satisfied w/the outcome. But it's impossible to know if they might have been happy as untreated LG adults (if the option of pubertal blockade had not been available to them).
