Serious overreach by the same ppl who have fought to ban all abortion in their states; marginalizes/co-opts criticism of pediatric transition. Will provoke massive backlash & make it harder for more reasonable voices to be heard & more cautious interventions to be put in place.

I 100% agree. Pushing for outright banning of pediatric transition will set back efforts to introduce greater caution in the treatment of children and adolescents diagnosed with gender dysphoria.

Why will it set back these efforts? Because outright banning will prompt a backlash. Many kids say they benefit from these treatments. I believe many will feel differently over time, but in the early years many believe they can’t live without them.

Rather than pushing for legal bans against pediatric transition, I think our efforts should focus on getting the teaching of the concept of gender identity out of our schools. We could replace it with programs that encourage kids to accept themselves and others.

I think we need to teach kids to embrace the so-called feminine and masculine parts of themselves. We’re all a mix of these parts. We need to teach kids that this is healthy — not a sign that they need medical treatment.

Gen ideology is taught in school because puberty blockers are routinely available - because PBs are available, children are socially transitioned in schools. It is a closed loop. As long as PBs are available...kids will be socially transitioned, and GI will be taught in schools.

The key word is "routinely." The "affirmative" model = huge number of kids socially transitioned, then put on blockers. But a total ban won't happen (outside a few socially-conservative state legislatures) any time soon. A return to better gatekeeping is a more realistic goal

Redstates are going to do what Redstates have done in the past...to me, the question is whether what they do can be used to open discussion of the Affirm Only model and the routine use of PBs.
