My take is to follow the evidence. The research suggests that if children continue to feel trans by age 12, go on blockers, then crosssex hormones at 16, they do very well. There are no studies supporting hormones before that age.

The real question in 2019 North America (not Amsterdam or Toronto clinic where social transition was generally not recommended) is what percentage of "affirmed" kids are set on this pathway who otherwise might desist. We won't ever know, though, will we? No control groups now.
