It’s parents perceptions of this ... could some have missed markers of trans in their kids early years ? Sure. ALL of them though ? Beggars belief. ROGD was never been observed 15 years ago. It seems an entirely new phenomena

Kids hide things well when they think their parents won't accept them. I know grown ass people who are on hrt whos family still don't know. It's something that is ignored, dismissed or not noticed for many reasons. I had to come out as bi 3 times before my mom realized I was bi.

They are trying to shed light on this — if some trans ID’d kids are caused by social contagion. Not ALL. SOME. If true, The kids claims here are less valid than the parents actually. Would an aneorixic kid deny an eating disorder ? Yes probably. Doesn’t make it bad science.

Brian, thank you for your reasoned voice on this. You may find this interesting, by
@PsychRabble . The hysteria around Littman's study, and the concerted effort to discredit it (when she herself called for more study on the matter) is so unnecessary.https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/rabble-rouser/201903/rapid-onset-gender-dysphoria …3 replies 1 retweet 11 likes -

You've been more reasonable
@econbrkfst . But in general, there's been an effort to tear down what Littman HERSELF characterized as preliminary vs. realizing there might be some truth in her work. Agree w/you that certain players have created hysteria in the opposite direction.2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

It seems the key question in all this is whether the people (journos, researchers, etc) who are looking into the abrupt-onset phenomenon have the ulterior motive of shaming, oppressing, or trying to deny services to those who feel transition worked/works well for them.

Think you're aware that we (4thWaveNow) have criticized efforts promoted by what we see as extremists. Don't think Shrier is in that camp; have seen her generally respond to people who approach her reasonably. She's on Twitter, you could tag her & ask.

Thanks for a rational discussion. We all need more of this. Apart from actual sociopaths (who are rare), most people mean well and can be engaged (and challenged!) in good faith. I always try to remember that on my side of the keyboard...
