the point is, rogd isnt the observed phenomenon here, its the parents reporting their kids have rogd that is observed.

I not sure I understand ... You’re saying that the kids in the Littman study insist they are cis ?

No, it's that the phenomenon isn't ROGD, it's *parental perception* of ROGD

You are applying your own bias of what you think ROGD means here. ROGD is meant to differentiate between 2 populations. Those getting GD pre-puberty and those who have seemingly no history of pre-puberty GD and manifesting post puberty.

Were the subjects of the study the kids or their parents?

It’s parents perceptions of this ... could some have missed markers of trans in their kids early years ? Sure. ALL of them though ? Beggars belief. ROGD was never been observed 15 years ago. It seems an entirely new phenomena

Kids hide things well when they think their parents won't accept them. I know grown ass people who are on hrt whos family still don't know. It's something that is ignored, dismissed or not noticed for many reasons. I had to come out as bi 3 times before my mom realized I was bi.

They are trying to shed light on this — if some trans ID’d kids are caused by social contagion. Not ALL. SOME. If true, The kids claims here are less valid than the parents actually. Would an aneorixic kid deny an eating disorder ? Yes probably. Doesn’t make it bad science.

Brian, thank you for your reasoned voice on this. You may find this interesting, by
@PsychRabble . The hysteria around Littman's study, and the concerted effort to discredit it (when she herself called for more study on the matter) is so unnecessary.https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/rabble-rouser/201903/rapid-onset-gender-dysphoria …3 replies 1 retweet 11 likes -

Clearly, study of the "rapid onset" (or whatever you want to call it) population itself is urgently needed--whether they stay trans or desist. Honest observers know there's been an uptick in females ID'ing as trans, & it's in everyone's interest to look into it more deeply.

Respecting those who believe transition was right for them isn't in contradiction to wanting to understand young people who regret transition and are themselves advocating for more caution. Absolutely right it's not enough to talk to parents. So let's study the young people now!
