Susan Bradley, MD, a world experts in gender dysphoria, is well aware of the risks in "affirming" kids w/ASD/other psych issues, as well as lesbian/gay youth. Yet some lawmakers would imprison even cautious clinicians like Bradley. Be careful who you make common cause with. https://twitter.com/briejnm/status/1191056839762251776 …

Many are justifiably upset re: flood of kids/teens now approved for blockers, hormones, surgeries. But some lawmakers who'd criminalize even a Susan Bradley for rarely approving med intervention would also make early abortion (even miscarriage) a felony. https://www.npr.org/2019/05/07/721028329/georgias-governor-signs-fetal-heartbeat-law …pic.twitter.com/nzhmaZT13h

I understand the debate. A woman who miscarried could potentially be *suspected* of having an abortion. (Not nice if you are grieving.) But I can't see any scenario where the criminal standard of proof would be met i.e. the woman induced the miscarriage beyond reasonable doubt.

It's a sticky wicket. There are some examples in this article of other ways it might happen. An argument could be made that abusing drugs to the point of killing a fetus is an actionable offense. Certainly an ethical dilemma, but also a legal one. https://www.businessinsider.com/women-30-years-prison-miscarriage-georgia-abortion-2019-5 …

Sure. There has to be some point where you become liable for your unborn kid's health, & I understand that for some the 'heartbeat' stage is too early, but it's not inconsistent, and it's not the same as blanket "criminalisation of miscarriage" which some are claiming (not you!)
