Would I prefer a world where all humans could be happy without undergoing these medical interventions? Yes. Clearly, we don't live in that world. It's clear there are happy trans ppl who are glad they medically transitioned. This isn't about banning.

What do you think would be a better use of both our time, Aidan (since you dropped into this thread): Playing "gotcha," or seeing if we can actually communicate with each other, vs. the usual Twitter echo chambering to our followers?

The detransition rate isn't really the point. You have a personal stake in this discussion as a trans person; I'm the parent of an adult desister (D'ed as trans as teen). Both are minorities (does it matter the numbers?) who feel beleaguered. That's what's driving this debate.

Please. What "doesn't matter" is that sheer numbers don't dictate whether a group of people are worth caring about, listening to, or advocating for. You jumped into this convo, started by a lesbian detransitioner who also advocates parental caution. Did you read her piece?

Did you read it? (she's tagged here) It's about her life; she urges parents to support GNC in their kids, coz she wasn't supported & says that's part of why she thought she was trans. Can you go beyond yr abortion-regret analogy & stand in her shoes, even if your views differ?
