Parents want an answer, a formula, a set of bullet points. But it's never one-size-fits-all. The waiting can feel intolerable, but it's unavoidable, existential. Ultimately the decision will be made by the young person themselves--hopefully w/a dash of parental wisdom in the mix.

I did this with my daughter, it was harder than I expected (social roles are so pervasive) but I think it helped. I pushed for delay on the irreversible stuff and I'm hoping she will reconsider.
