Starting at 23:25 in this video (which we were asked to share by the former phalloplasty patient), we hear about several hazards associated with the erectile rod/implant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6eOrNjaN5I&feature=youtu.be …

"You have to get [the erectile rod] changed out every so often, and every time you get it removed and new one in, the [odds of] infection go up 10-20%. I've been told this by a few other surgeons now. They don't tell you all this stuff [up front]."pic.twitter.com/K2ndHXNkK1

Reading from medical records, this former patient notes that an erectile implant wasn't recommended because of the severe lack of sensation in the neophallus, which could lead to the rod "eroding through the skin" [presumably during intercourse] without the patient realizing it.pic.twitter.com/r8eCzrBelU

I don’t understand how anyone can think a rolled up flesh tube patched onto a vulva is ever going to function in any way like a complex sexual organ. Neopenis has no sensation. IOW zero sexual pleasure. Unless topping alone is what gets you off.

And all this just because they want to penetrate and stand to pee. It's totally not worth it. This video is heartbreaking too. https://youtu.be/DjvT6TxZQe0 All that trouble and ending up with something she didn't want. And the pain she had! It's horrific.

These FTM YouTubers are doing a real service by talking about their surgery complications. Although Billy-Joe says
that infection is uncommon, the study doesn't support that. Infection is not unusual. It's striking Billy-Joe had to push so hard to get the pump removed.
