The claim checks out with basic logic, a GNC kid isn't GD so of course they aren't going to be trans later in life, hence majority desistance rates. If there is a good answer I'm open to it and will be looking for it

Gender dysphoria can resolve--that's what you're missing here. Once gender dysphoric does not equal always gender dysphoric.

Distress vs. Ongoing desire to be opposite sex still makes a difference though? Distress from what though because if the criteria for GID doesn't require 'other sex it isn't reliable in my meek opinion.
