No. But to get back to the point, sorry, I just find a lot of these traits quite vague and I like to define them. If women are 'nurturing' presumably they choose to look after children rather than use childcare? And men choose not to look after children?

Is anyone actually proposing that, on AVERAGE, a female homo sapiens (a mammal, as in derived from "mammary") wouldn't have an innate tendency to nurture--especially since human infants are totally helpless at birth (due to large cranium)? As always, notice AVERAGE caveat above

I'm wondering what that means in terms of modern behaviour. As in, does it mean women choose to stay at home or get childcare. Why is this a strange question?

Yes, so that's where culture comes in, right? Many women choose careers and childcare now. The tweet was just meant to address ask why there's a question (from lots of feminists) that some tendency to nurture wouldn't ON AVERAGE be hardwired in human females.

When some people say, "Of COURSE I'm not a blank slatist!" but then insist that even a greater ON AVERAGE tendency for human female mammals vs. males to be "nurturing" (at minimum, to keep their infants alive) is just "socialization"--that's tabula rasa in extremis.

Then, is it really such a crazy leap to think that ON AVERAGE the tendency in human mammal females to be invested in close human connection (their infants) could translate to a tendency ON AVERAGE to prefer people over things in their daily activities? AVERAGE AVERAGE AVERAGE

Modern culture has liberated women from being chained to babies unless they want to be, and that's a good thing! But both can be true: Certain traits ON AVERAGE can be stronger in one sex than the other, but modern culture prevents such traits from becoming a prison.

Jesus Christ. I asked what behaviours are predicted by an innate nurturing instinct. I'm now muting the spate of block capitals. Cheers.

Those block caps weren't aimed at you--they were aimed at all the onlookers who freak out in these discussions, immediately jumping to "oh, see, you're saying all women should be barefoot and pregnant!"
