Honest question for those who say young kids' behavior is largely the result of socialization: How do you explain the detransitioned butch lesbians who talk about heavy disapproval they faced as tots for their "masculine" behaviors? Who socialized them to be so gender atypical?
How is this about anything "neatly" mapping onto anything? "Butch" and "effeminate" are just terms most people understand to mean certain characteristics. No one decided anything outside of those descriptors.

It is in answer to your question. 'Masc/Fem' are relative to time, place & culture. There is nothing inherently feminine about, for example, long hair. There are many women who reject 'femininity' as such, who experience the same censure, but are heterosexual.

No one said lesbians have a monopoly on gender nonconformity. If you read Melissa Hines' work (in part of the thread) that's made clear.
