Honest question for those who say young kids' behavior is largely the result of socialization: How do you explain the detransitioned butch lesbians who talk about heavy disapproval they faced as tots for their "masculine" behaviors? Who socialized them to be so gender atypical?

I think most of us have a mixture of personality traits, and these have been somewhat artificially divided into “masculine” and “feminine”, since here’s a huge overlap between sexes. The distribution of these traits, across sexes, follow a Bell curve. 1pic.twitter.com/dtl4R2MoWW

What's the source, & how did they determine which traits are masc or fem?

There’s loads of research in this area, why don’t you research it yourself? Cordelia Fine and Prof Gina Rippon have published books and articles that discuss this in the kind of detail that’s needed to understand this. This is a good introhttp://sfonline.barnard.edu/neurogenderings/eight-things-you-need-to-know-about-sex-gender-brains-and-behavior-a-guide-for-academics-journalists-parents-gender-diversity-advocates-social-justice-warriors-tweeters-facebookers-and-ever/ …

This discussion is great-- people have mostly been engaging in good faith and with minimal insults. Would like to see substantive responses to @RealYeyoZa 's piece, which points out some real problems with Fine's position.

Amazingly, there are corners of Twitter where people do engage in good faith. This paragraph from the Quillette piece stood out for me. (I'm much more Ev Psych than Rad Fem, FWIW.)pic.twitter.com/gnXMBV9FJV

There are indeed similarities between radical feminism and evolutionary psychology. Both view heterosexual relationships as inherently conflictual, for example, due to divergent sexual preferences and men’s ability to exercise violence.

That article was very unfortunate in the same way as all other articles by men who have superficial look at “feminism” and carry on to misrepresent feminist position. Blank slatism is just about as rare as hen’s teeth in feminism. Also liberal feminism is faux feminism.

Apart from the obvious physical (non-brain) differences, are there any (average!) differences you would point to between typical males and females?

There are clearly differences between men and women in interests, behaviors, etc. But that doesn't mean that any particular interest or behavior is inborn/unchangable by socialization. That's the issue under dispute, not whether the differences exist.

I haven't seen anyone in this discussion saying a possible innate trait (I prefer "tendency") isn't subject to the influence (enhancement or suppression) of socialization.

So if you think that all these qualities are influenced or largely determined by socialization, why do you believe there are some deep-seated, innate tendencies that are not determined by socialization? Why should we believe that there are "default" tendencies here?

Yeah, it's like musical taste - we all know that certain types of people tend to like certain types of music, but no one thinks it's helpful or necessary or even plausible to suggest that there are genetic factors underlying it. Even though musical taste is *more* distinct!
