Honest question for those who say young kids' behavior is largely the result of socialization: How do you explain the detransitioned butch lesbians who talk about heavy disapproval they faced as tots for their "masculine" behaviors? Who socialized them to be so gender atypical?

I think most of us have a mixture of personality traits, and these have been somewhat artificially divided into “masculine” and “feminine”, since here’s a huge overlap between sexes. The distribution of these traits, across sexes, follow a Bell curve. 1pic.twitter.com/dtl4R2MoWW

Right. But many people don't understand bell curves/average distributions vs. individuals (who can NEVER be assumed to be at the mean). Have heard it said that quite a few feminists are gender atypical, and thus assume they represent the norm.

I have attempted to explain further in the tweets that followed this one.

I absolutely agree about the arbitrariness here. Some "gender traits" really are just fashions, and I also believe that either sex can perform the other sex's social functions if the circumstances demand. Men can be nurturing; women can wage wars.

To me, heterosexuality/homosexuality and behaviours around reproduction seem most sex-based. Personality traits, interests, hobbies, not so much.

How do you account for gender typical behaviour in our closest relatives? Rough and tumble, & object-orientated play are found in male juvenile primates, & parent play found in females. There are many more differences beyond these that show up repeatedly:https://web.archive.org/web/20171028225840/http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jnr.23862/full …

Those studies suffer from a lot of researcher bias. Also look up bonobos.

Is it your opinion that the dozens of studies cited by Elizabeth Lonsdorf in her review paper are all tainted by researcher bias? She also discussed methodology in the "summary and future directions" section.
