Honest question for those who say young kids' behavior is largely the result of socialization: How do you explain the detransitioned butch lesbians who talk about heavy disapproval they faced as tots for their "masculine" behaviors? Who socialized them to be so gender atypical?

I'd also add that - despite those gender-unequal countries being deeply misogynistic in ways gender-equal cultures are not- the former cultures often really do encourage women into STEM/male dominated careers in ways the latter do not.

For example, female mathematicians in Iran (like Mirzakhani ) are recognized and admired in a way no female mathematicians have ever been in the US. Female chessplayers are widely celebrated in East Asia and Eastern Europe, etc.
