Here @BuckAngel describes near-fatal uterine atrophy. How many tweens get told about this risk by their gender specialists? "Beyond belief, doctor said. He had never seen anything like this. My cervix fused to my uterus. ..the infection burst.. sepsis." https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz57jmKjtTj/?igshid=1akmvcza1fo6x …pic.twitter.com/eGKNM0805m

I'm not a teen (but I am trans) and I didn't even get told about this before Buck mentioned it.

I heard about it though one of the trans YouTubers I followed back in the day, but my doctors never mentioned it.

The process to medically transition really needs to be revised. They need to include more than a list of possible side affects that don't include all other affects. They should also include steps on what to do if you happen to want to detransition....where to go, who to talk to?

They also need to verbally explain things like atrophy and require that you get hysterectomy if you plan on being on hormones the rest of your life. There's a fine line between patients rights and requiring people to not be a dumb ass and put themselves in harms way

I disagree with the requirement of getting a hysto though. Why should that be required?

Because atrophy is going to happen if you don't get it done and your also increasing your risk for cancer. It's not wise to hang onto those organs if you're not gonna use them

Atrophy is something that women in general deal with. Women don't typically get a hysto. So why do we? We don't have to. We can just apply estrogen cream instead of getting a hysto. Plus, if a hysto is required that would be terrible for those that end up detrans.

I hadn't thought of that and honestly I think there should be more focus on preventing people from transitioning when they may end up detransitioning.
