People who’ve never had kids—particularly young people—are quick to judge flawed but “good enough” parents harshly, even calling them “abusers.” Actual abusive parents are rare. Parents w/ their own baggage who sometimes drive their kids nuts? Parents who make mistakes? Oh yeah.

The point is NOT that abusive parents don't exist. Of course they do! The point is they aren't the majority. Disgruntled young people demonize even decent parents, and social media magnify and (in today's climate) reify that distorted view.

It wasn’t until early 20s that II understood that my parents did know a lot more than me - and only when I became a parent that I realized their mistakes were just then doing their best.

My mama is a wise woman. Probably due to the fact she grew up dirt poor and had to make due with what she had. She's taught me a lot, especially when I was younger.
