Serious question: Have there ever before been so many prominent, powerful adults who peddle the mantra that children and teens getting what they want NOW is all that matters?

Previously, it has been one of the duties of adults in a young person's life to think about future consequences, because minors are very now-oriented. *It's the reason kids aren't allowed to get tattoos*. But now 13-yr-olds get double mastectomies & testosterone...

And yes, for the uninitiated, 13-yr-olds ARE getting double mastectomies--at least in the US, which Mermaids has promoted as the model for pediatric transition. Here's a thread from 2016--there are so many more.https://twitter.com/4th_WaveNow/status/784556111005376512 …

Here's Susie Green fawning over a presentation by Johanna Olson Kennedy at WPATH in Buenos Aires last November. "We should be less concerned about certainty". Future regretters are collateral damage.pic.twitter.com/8BD3s2JLV0

Olson-Kennedy famously said if a kid (a 13-yr-old IS a kid, something some have forgotten) regrets her double mastectomy, she can always "go and get" breasts later. There's a lot to imbibe in this video, including that statement (which is at 17 min mark).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TrNE8a53dI&t=32s …

Also in the above video clip, we see how the harms/risks of breast-binding (which are many) are used to promote earlier double mastectomy. The idea that a tween or teen could be helped to accept her body and not harm it via either binding OR surgery is not even on the radar.

Then there's testosterone for "nonbinary" middle schoolers.https://twitter.com/4th_WaveNow/status/1109135524948779008 …

If Mermaids had their way, the UK would follow the US' example, allowing girls as young as 13 to have full mastectomies. How's that going to go if they realise in a few years time that they are 'not trans'? I guess they can just worry about that tomorrow.

Yes, Mermaids and their supporters (many of whom are on Twitter) have been aggressively pressuring
@TaviAndPort to emulate US affirmative practice for quite some time now.
