We really need to distinguish between actual gender dysphoria and ROGD - the gender critical community needs to be very careful not to completely deny that GD is a real thing. Not EVERYTHING is a social construction.

So putting together all that I’ve read and learned, my understanding is the thoughts leading up to the condition are, in the case of ROGD, caused by social contagion, but once the person is the state of GD, it’s as real as anyone else’s. Not a “snap out of it” phase for anyone.

And so proper treatment of both types of GD can only be obtained by respecting the root causes.

I am starting to think it's still qualitatively different, though I agree that it becomes completely real for ROGD kids, totally debilitating and can warp their personal experience in the body

And your perspective is fascinating, because you’re the one doing the therapy that others either can’t (due to laws, for example) or won’t do. You impress me with your incessant drive to not just ride this wave of popularity but dig even deeper.

I was disagreeing with the idea that transgenderism can’t be real or that no GD is real bc gender is a social construction.

Makes sense. But even if one doesn't believe it's possible for someone to be "in the wrong body", the unhappiness (dysphoria) can be very real, right?
